The Art of Slip Trailing

Watch as Blaine Avery demonstrates the art of decorating pots with colored porcelain slips using a process inspired by early American redware. The beautiful and precise decoration is completely done free-hand. Slip Trailing is a technique where slip, a liquid clay suspended in water is applied to the surface of a still wet pot by squeezing a thin line of clay through a nozzle onto the ware creating a raised line.
