Bobbie Thomas Location

Bobbie Thomas

“In the heart of Seagrove, North Carolina is a rustic pottery studio where art and nature become one. The beauty of the countryside - its rich colors, textures and shapes - are captured into clay for a lifetime. Just as in nature, each stoneware creation is unique and represents the artistic vision of potters Scott and Bobbie Thomas.”

[...Taking home a piece of Thomas Pottery is like taking home a memento of North Carolina's beautiful countryside....]

Most people only wish they could follow their dreams, but potters Scott and Bobbie Thomas have made it a reality. Together, they combine their skills to create handmade pottery perfect for serving, baking, and home decor. They also offer a seasonal line of designs, including spring planters, fall pumpkins, and winter snowmen. Their commitment to producing high-quality, unique designs is a fulfilling challenge.

Scott enjoys turning on the potter’s wheel. His large platters, bowls, and pitchers showcase traditional forms. He also creates mugs, teapots, utensil crocks, and baking dishes. After he turns his pieces, Bobbie finishes them, adding her signature rope handles and decorations, fires and glazes them. On average, each piece undergoes about 10 touches before it’s finished.

Bobbie turns on the potter’s wheel, but her real passion lies in hand-building, making trays and platters from flat clay pieces. Inspired by nature, she embellishes her work with dogwood flowers, leaf impressions, and intriguing textures. Each year, she creates a series of woodland sculptures featuring rabbits, foxes, bears, and turtles. Customers especially like her unique three-footed serving pieces.

Visitors to their shop are enchanted by the rustic charm of renovated farm buildings, which overlook a picturesque lily pond and meticulously landscaped grounds. The spacious studio features large windows that offer a glimpse into the pottery-making process. Their sales gallery, nestled within a cozy cabin, provides a delightful shopping experience. Upon arrival, guests can unwind on a covered patio surrounded by vibrant flowers.
