Seagrove Wood Fire NC

June 7, 2025 - June 8, 2025

10am - 5pm Hours may vary at individual shops

Save the date!! June 7th & 8th, 2025, for the Seagrove Wood Fire Studio Tour!  Over a dozen studios will feature a great variety of new work for this special event.  Look for a tour guide/map of participating potters.  The event is held at each retail studio location.

Learn about the process of firing with wood and discover the extensive array of effects each potter renders from the atmosphere inside a wood firing. Shops will feature new wood fired pottery. Some will have demonstrations.

Some of the kilns take nearly a week to fire, stoking them with wood every 10 minutes or so. Volatile compounds including molten ash float and flash onto surfaces, building up and creating effects which can dramatically or subtly enhance a pot.

The potters representing this group are a mix of traditional and contemporary, so the finished pots differ.  Some of our potters can trace family history back hundreds of years to farmers who used the local clay from Seagrove to craft wares going back eight generations. Others have been to Seagrove after studying in faraway places like Estonia and Japan and bring unique techniques to the community.

Admission is free. Maps of the Participating shops will be available in town.

A list of participating potters coming soon!
