Stepping Into The Craft - Summers In Seagrove
While Seagrove pottery shops are open throughout the year, many studios will have special events taking place during the month of July for Stepping into the Craft – Summers in Seagrove. Visitors can expect anything from kiln openings, demonstrations, hands-on experiences in clay and more. We hope you can plan your visit for a first-hand look at the process of making pottery and discover why Seagrove was voted America’s #1 Town for Craft.
Individual shops plan their own events. Please remember that most shops are typically open, even if they don’t have a special event planned that weekend. You will need to work directly with individual studios for any events that may require reservations (hands-on experiences, etc).
Seagrove is a vibrant community of potters who make their craft year-round. Potters welcome visitors to their studios and shops throughout the year. Shops are dotted along the Pottery Highway, NC 705 and adjacent roads. When you visit Seagrove, you have an opportunity to meet the potters, purchase unique handmade items, and perhaps even see a demonstration or tour a studio.

We look forward to your visit to Seagrove!

Fiva McCanless Pottery
I’ll be bringing a fresh flock of folk art pottery: critters, curiosities, and colorful characters painted with love, grit, and a slightly unhinged brush. This is my newest work, and you better believe it’s got that Fiva flair.
Swing by for mugs, bowls, creatures, conversation—and the warm, weird charm you’ve come to expect. Let’s make a day of it.
Glaze, grit, and grins await—see you there!

Enjoy demonstrations on the covered deck. Eck will demonstrate how he turns multiple colors of clay on the wheel at the same time to create his Agateware. He will also demonstrate the carving techniques he uses to achieve the intricate patterns on his pots. Lots of fans will be employed to circulate the air and keep you cool. Ice cold water and refreshments will be available.
Eck's sister, Fiva McCanless, will join us with her "whimsical and sometimes weird" hand-painted pottery.
