“Whimsical Folk Art Pottery”
As a folk artist from Seagrove, North Carolina, I create hand-painted ceramics that capture the whimsical and the mystical, blending the everyday with the surreal to bring a sense of wonder into daily rituals. Taught by my parents and brothers, I carry forward a rich tradition of pottery while infusing my work with humor and storytelling. Each piece is both functional and narrative—a canvas where companionship, curiosity, and the enigmatic personalities of animals come to life.
My art explores themes of connection and playfulness, often centering on cats with commanding stares or mythic creatures with multi-eyed gazes. These beings act as guardians of imagination, inviting viewers to find hidden depths within the mundane. Through vibrant colors, bold contrasts, and layers of traditional folk motifs, I create characters that both amuse and intrigue—cats that seem to demand obedience, foxes with sly remarks, and birds that evoke mystery.
The textures and patterns on my ceramics reflect a love for tactile experience, making each item feel alive and interactive. My goal is to spark joy and a moment of lighthearted magic in everyday life. Whether it’s a mug that encourages you to “obey” a feline’s subtle authority or a bowl that evokes spiritual whimsy, I hope my work brings a smile and a bit of wonder to all who use it.
