“5th Generation Potter”

I am a 5th generation potter following in the footsteps of my family, the Richardsons, who were all Seagrove potters as well. I am inspired by nature, gothic imagery, and my ancestors who made pottery for generations before me. I hand-carve all of my signature Sgraffito pieces in a moody and alternative style. I enjoy making functional works of art, creating the perfect blend between a piece acting as decoration and being functional to where it can be used and enjoyed every single day. Every piece in my shop is handmade, hand carved, and individually designed by me.

My great great grandfather, Stephen Richardson, was a potter and created pottery throughout the late 1800’s and early 1900’s. My great grandfather, Wendell Richardson, also resided and created pottery here in Seagrove throughout the early 1900’s.

My grandfather, Robert “Bobby” Richardson and uncle Danny Richardson, resided and created pottery here in Seagrove as well. My grandpa Bobby and uncle Danny would dig up clay on our family land, where I currently reside and operate my shop, and bring it back to his old chicken house to transform into usable pottery clay. My plot of land has been passed down through my family over the generations and has many large holes throughout where my grandpa Bobby and uncle Danny dug up many years worth of clay for personal use and to sell to other Seagrove potters.

Before I began creating pottery full time in March 2024, I worked in emergency services for four and a half years. I started working as a 911 dispatcher at age 18 then began working in law enforcement at age 20 until leaving at age 23 to pursue pottery as a career.
