3 Gallon Jug by Sid Luck

Luck’s Ware

Sid Luck

3 Gallon jug

Wood fired, salt glazed, with blue glaze

15.5 inches H x 8 inches dia.

Wheel thrown by Sid in honor of his great grandfather. His great grandfather was called up to serve toward the end of the civil war, at the age of seventeen. He soon caught malaria. The only treatment then was quinine, which came in blue glass bottles. Family lore has it that when he returned from war and started making pottery, he used the blue glass bottles to add a glaze to jugs like you see here.
